Gianna DeJesus

My Journey

Gia_500

Hello...!  My name is Gianna DeJesus... and yes, if my last name sounds familiar it's because Frank DeJesus is my Dad.

Sometimes, people assume that just because I'm Frank's daughter I've always been healthy and fit.  They say things like:

"You don't know what it's like."

or...

"You've never walked in my shoes."

But, unfortunately, that's not true.

In fact, when I was in high school my health hit rock bottom.  I weighed more than 200 pounds!  My cholesterol was through the roof and I was diagnosed as borderline diabetic.

So, I did exactly what what millions of other unhealthy people do.   I went into denial.

Here I was, just a 17-year old kid hating the way I felt... and hating the way I looked.

Eventually, I faced the fact that I needed to make a serious lifestyle change if I wanted to improve the quality of my life.

That's when I asked my Dad for help.

Now, you might think this was easy since he's a certified NASM Master Trainer.  But, again, it's a wrong assumption -- for all the reasons you might imagine with a dad training his own teenage daughter.

But, we forged ahead and focused on getting my menu plan and training in check.

The Results Begin to Take Shape

Eventually, I began to feel better -- and look better!   As I progressed, I thought:

"If I feel this good now, I wonder how much better I'll feel if I push a little harder?"

And, that's when the entire holistic approach of optimizing my nutrition and creating my own personalized workouts became a true passion for me.

So much so, that I became a NASM Certified Professional Trainer - and even a nationally qualified bikini competitor.  A far cry from the unhappy, unhealthy 17-year old!

And, I'm still learning and adding to my skill sets.  I graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in Social and Behavior Science and am currently back in school pursuing another degree in the field of nursing.

Giving Back...

My father helped me to lose my first 40 pounds.  He did it through role modeling a healthy lifestyle as well as motivating and inspiring me with a "can do" attitude.  Ultimately, through his teaching and instruction, he gave me the "tools" that allowed me to help myself.   And, that is the key!

Perhaps you can relate to the way I felt when I was overweight, unhealthy and unhappy.   It happens to all kinds of people for all kinds of reasons -- from stressful jobs and family caretaking to just trying to find the time!  Whatever the case, if you're feeling de-conditioned, overweight or generally unhealthy you innately know what you need to do.

I know you want to feel better.  And, I know first-hand how physically tough and emotionally draining it is to get started.  You see, I actually have been there and "walked in your shoes." I know all about the highs and lows that come with the journey.

I know what it takes to reach your individual goals. It’s not easy, but it’s certainly not impossible.   I will work to ignite the fire within you to get started and continue to maintain your discipline and accountability throughout the process.

Through education, motivation and inspiration, I will be with you every inch of the way.  Even more importantly, I'll provide you with the "tools" that allow you to forever help yourself!
